Meet the Team

  • Co-Founder and Head of Business Development

    Samuel is a co-founder and Head of Business Development at the Pittsburgh Mushroom Company. Raised on a small hay farm in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, he developed a deep appreciation for nature and cultivation. It was during this time that he discovered the captivating world of mushroom foraging, igniting a passion that would shape his future endeavors.

    After completing his studies in Business Management and Human Resources at John Carroll University, Samuel found a seamless transition into the realm of mushroom cultivation and sales. Coming from a family-owned and operated roofing, heating, and air conditioning business, he witnessed firsthand the intrinsic connection between quality workmanship and diligent effort.

    In addition to his involvement with the Pittsburgh Mushroom Company, Samuel is also a part-owner of a real estate investment company and has ventured into various entrepreneurial endeavors. Throughout his professional journey, he has honed his skills in business development, adapting to evolving strategies, and fostering effective team collaboration. These experiences have cultivated a forward-thinking mindset that drives his aspirations for the future.

    Sa’ed Al-Olimat is a driven pharmacy manager in the Penn Hills, having completed his studies at Duquesne University's School of Pharmacy in May 2020. His fervor lies in discovering ways to establish accessible and sustainable approaches to health and wellness. During his exploration, he came across the remarkable potential of medicinal mushrooms in promoting disease prevention and overall well-being.

    Recognizing the impact fungi can have on the Pittsburgh community, Sa’ed is passionate about harnessing their power to enhance healthy living and develop sustainable food sources. He firmly believes in the immense value that mushrooms hold and strives to unlock their benefits for the benefit of the local community.

    Justin is an enthusiast and advocate for natural and integrative medicine and health. He has an academic background in Public Health and Psychology.

    Justin has always been passionate about exploring the natural world and learned foraging and plant cultivation through virtual resources and literature. 2020 presented unique opportunities for him to reinvigorate his relationship with nature, with a specific interest in fungi.

    In his free time, Justin enjoys immersing himself in the outdoors while hiking, camping, and foraging.
